PARCEL SHIPPING FAQS
1. What carriers do you ship with?
We ship mainly with parcel providers, such as UPS, FedEx and USPS. The carrier varies depending on which product you purchase and the delivery location.
2. Why does shipping cost more than the price of my barrel?
Barrels are heavy. They weigh a whopping 120 pounds! They’re bulky, too. This makes shipping a barrel or pieces of a barrel quite expensive because carriers tack on a lot of extra fees for such large objects.
3. Can I request a delivery date or can you guarantee a delivery date?
Our parcel shipping partners do not offer guaranteed shipping delivery dates, but we would be more than happy to work with you to try and time a shipment properly for its arrival at your doorstep! We do offer expedited shipping options that you can select at checkout.
4. Can I overnight or expedite my shipment?
Yes, you can! Options to overnight or expedite your shipment are available to select when you checkout. Please call us at (402) 904-3132 if you do not see expedited shipping options.
5. Where is my shipment?
Please visit our Order Tracking page to track your shipment.
6. Where do you ship to?
Buyers located in the lower 48 U.S. states can shop and checkout on the website. For Alaska, Hawaii, Canada and Mexico – contact us.
7. What If I only need to ship one barrel?
The best way to ship one barrel is via UPS for furniture grade and LTL for liquid grade. Shipping liquid grade barrels via LTL helps prevent accidental damage in transit.
FREIGHT / LTL SHIPPING FAQS
1. What is the most cost effective way to ship barrels?
“We get real time quotes from dozens of carriers to find you the most affordable rate and fastest shipping time. The best way to ship purchases of 48 or fewer barrels is to place them on pallets and use LTL (less than truckload) carriers, such as Estes, ABF, XPO and SAIA.
We can fit up to four barrels per pallet and up to eight barrels on a skid (two pallets stacked). Shipping barrels in increments of eight is most cost effective.
Generally, the best way to ship orders of 100 barrels or more is stack them loosely in a dry van truck. We can fit many more barrels into a truck if they are loose instead of on pallets. We can ship a maximum of 288 barrels loosely loaded onto a truck or 192 palletized barrels on a full-size, 53-foot trailer.”
2. Can I opt out of a lift gate fee if I hand unload a shipment?
Unfortunately, our freight providers do not allow hand unloads of barrels as there is a liability due to weight and cost of the product. A lift gate is required if a loading dock and forklift is not available to unload.
3. Can I set up my own shipping?
Yes, you can! However, we do charge a $100 handling fee per skid for any LTL that is set up by the customer. In addition, please make sure you choose the local pickup option at checkout and email us a copy of the BOL (bill of lading) at least 24 hours prior to pickup. We cannot release the barrels if a BOL is not received prior to pickup.
4. Can I use my forklift or tractor with forks to unload a shipment if delivered to a residence?
Unfortunately, our freight providers will only ship to a residence using a lift gate option.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING FAQS
1. Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we do. There are a few more hoops to jump through, but we can do it no problem. Learn more about our process for international buyers.
2. How many barrels can fit onto a shipping container
We can fit up to 75 full-size (53 gallon) whiskey barrels onto a 20-foot container and up to 210 on a 40-foot HC container.
3. Will you handle the paperwork necessary to import barrels to my country.
We provide a phytosanitary certificate, Certificate of Origin (COO) and any other necessary paperwork. You will be required to have your own customs broker to aid in the container clearing customs.
4. How long does it take to ship barrels to another country?
Be sure to plan well ahead! It can take up to 60 days from the time we book a container to when it shows up to your nearest port. It’s highly dependent upon where in the world the barrels are going and accessibility of the country.
